Name: "Yamagarasu" Country: Tsuchi no Kuni Leader: Unknown
Rankings: The ranking of the clan is split among families with three at the top and five lower families under them. Each family has a noble that speaks for each family with the Sōjōbō family at the top. It wasn't until recent years that each family was revealed to be part of one clan that carried the Kekkei Genkai. Separate they seemed like small families of five or so people, but together they collectively reach a good fifty or so. The term Yamagarasu is loosely used by outsiders, the clan members never refer to themselves as Yamagarasu, they refer to each other as their family's name. Ex.: Tarōbō no Karasumaru or just Tarōbō Karasumaru.
Sōjōbō Family: One of the three noble families. A member of this family is easily distinguished by their feather-like hair. They're known for their fighting prowess and utilization of the Kekkei Genkai. They're known as the toughest among the Yamagarasu.
Tarōbō Family: A noble family that's passive instead of aggressive even during these times. They're gentle members of the "Yamagarasu." They have black hair.
Jirōbō: A noble family that's notably aggressive and known for the powerful retainers under the noble. They're regarded to as the toughest members of the Yamagarasu. They're noticeable by their red eyes.
Unnamed Families: Under the nobles are a number of families that collectively aren't as skilled as the noble families but carry the Kekkei Genkai.
Abilities: Tengu [Heavenly Dog] Kuchiyose: Karasu [Spiritualism: Crows]
History: It's said they came from the Mountains. They say they had the strength of untamed beasts. The Yamagarasu is what they call them, but they themselves are a clan without a name made up of multiple families all sharing a Kekkei Genkai, working independently but governed by the three noble families. It was more than two-hundred years ago that they started operating as a secret clan. They were so secretive that other ninja mistook them for actual Tengu across the continent.
Sōjōbō, the original leader split the clan up, and most of them had distinguishing features though there are different families that share the same characteristics, but it's rare for that feature to differ within the family. Sōjōbō himself had hair made up of feathers, so he lent his name to the son with a head full of feathers. The Tengu Sennin's brothers had hair of black and peculiar red eyes, both of which he shared with them, so he gave the last two families the names of his brothers. Over the years, they spread, and more families began to pop up.
Since the start of the clan, the Sōjōbō were challenged for the leadership role, but out of kinship and loyalty, not wanting to start a war within the clan they relinquished power despite being the strongest at the time. Currently, they occupy three mountains, Kurama, Atago and Hira and have compounds in all three mountains along with compounds scattered across the country.
Status: Nobles families need registration, unnamed families are open.
